The Charles Wallace Burma Trust will sponsor one scholar or practitioner from Burma as a visitor to the Department of Politics and International Relations for one Oxford term in the 2016-2017 academic year. The fellowship will enable a Burmese academic or professional to undertake a short working visit to the University of Oxford’s Department of Politics and International Relations, with the aim of broadening their professional knowledge, skills and contacts.

The content of a fellowship normally takes the form of professional interaction, study and research. Applications are particularly welcome from women who are under-represented for the Fellowship in Oxford.

    About

The Charles Wallace Visiting Fellowship to the Department of Politics and International Relations is sponsored by the Charles Wallace Burma Trust, in cooperation with the British Council in Burma. The duration of the Fellowship is up to three months, and the Visiting Fellow is expected to be in residence for one Oxford term of the 2016-2017 academic year.

The purpose of the fellowship is to advance the understanding of contemporary problems and issues facing Burma across a broad range of themes. While full fluency in English would be an asset, applicants are not required to be fully fluent in English and we will do our best to match the visiting fellow with appropriate mentors to assist with any language issues.

An all-inclusive monthly stipend of £1,400 is offered by the Trust in order to cover costs at Oxford, together with a return economy air fare from Burma.
