About Tea Circle

Tea Circle was established in November 2015 as a forum for new and emerging perspectives on Burma/Myanmar during its current period of political and economic transition. It highlights analysis, research, opinions, book reviews, multi-media presentations and other types of submissions from a global audience of contributors. Tea Circle is run by a group of dedicated volunteer editors and is particularly focused on creating opportunities for contributors from Myanmar.

From 2015-August 2018, Tea Circle was hosted by the Programme on Modern Burmese Studies at St Antony’s College at the University of Oxford. It is now a part of the Centre for Southeast Asian Studies, housed in the Asian Institute at the Munk School of Global Affairs & Public Policy at the University of Toronto. We are grateful for the institutional and financial support provided to Tea Circle, including from the International Development Research Centre (IDRC)’s Knowledge for Democracy – Myanmar Initiative. Content published on Tea Circle is representative of our authors’ own views and does not reflect the positions of individual editors, collaborators, or donors and institutional partners.
