Myanmar’s Paletwa Township, in southern Chin State, is defined by the Kaladan River, which stretches from Northeastern India to the Bay of Bengal. The river is market, highway, and lifeline for the communities who live on and from it. Bobby Anderson, author of a recent Tea Circle series on Paletwa, frequently finds himself on the Kaladan, in both Chin and Rakhine: some of what he is lucky to see there is found in the photo essay below.
